On the whole, the academic paper is not a very suitable vehicle for synthetic philosophy, because it gives insufficient space to make all the necessary links. Academic journals generally require a detailed engagement with the specialised literature in one area (even when they are supposedly inter-disciplinary), and thus offer no scope for simultaneously questioning the interdependent assumptions made in different areas. For that reason, Robert has pretty much given up on trying to publish in academic journals. In earlier years, however, he did publish a few papers in peer-reviewed publications, and he has also published a few more recent ones on Researchgate and Academia.
